L’Arche Ecumenical Prayer Night

All are invited to an ecumenical Friends of L’Arche Prayer Night, hosted by the L’Arche Saskatoon Project, on Tuesday, April 3 from 7:00-7:45 pm in the chapel at Queen’s House (601 Taylor St. W). We will be participating in a liturgy of the washing of one another’s feet. L’Arche Saskatoon Project is part of an international network of communities where people with and without intellectual disabilities share life together in the spirit of the Gospel and of the Beatitudes that Jesus preached. L’Arche Giant Garage Sale

L’Arche Saskatoon Giant Garage Sale is Friday, August 24, 4 – 9pm, & Saturday. August 25, 8am – 3pm, at Grace Westminster United Church Hall (505 10th Street E, just west of Broadway Ave.). Please bring your donated items to Grace Westminster (East entrance) on Thurs. Aug. 23, 1 – 7pm, or Fri. Aug. 24, 9am – 1pm. Jean Vanier wins Templeton Prize for 2015

Jean Vanier has been awarded the prestigious Templeton Prize for 2015The Templeton Foundation has just announced from London that it has awarded the 2015 Templeton Prize to Jean Vanier, for his innovative discovery of the central role of vulnerable people in the creation of a more just, inclusive and humane society. The Templeton Prize, which has previously been awarded to Mother Teresa, Desmond Tutu, the Dalai Lama and others, is one of the most prestigious honours in the world, and is valued at close to 1.7 million USD.

According to Jean Vanier, this prize honours primarily the most vulnerable among us, often marginalized in our societies, and to whom he attributes his discovery. It is these people who revealed to him that any person who has been previously rejected, when welcomed, becomes a source of dialogue, of healing, of unity and of peace for our societies and our religions.
