Complaints

It is the intention of Ecumenism in Canada to respect the privacy of its website visitors. If you have any concerns regarding privacy issues, please contact the editor at editor@ecumenism.net.

Cookies

Cookies are a standard internet technology, and many websites use them to provide useful features. A cookie is a small file stored on your computer that contains data that can be retrieved on the next visit to the site. For example, this website uses cookies to remember the language preferences of our users. These cookies do not identify you and we do not store personal data about you in any databases. We do not use any covert methods of acquiring user-identifiable data. This website uses WordPress to manage many pages, so WordPress session cookies will also be used, however, these do not collect user-identifiable data, and do not store any in any database.

This website also uses MailChimp, Google Custom Search, Google Fonts, social media links including Facebook and Twitter, and embedded audio and video from YouTube and Vimeo. Each of these external sites may store cookies and collect tracking data. Reasonable efforts are taken to reduce the impact of these sites, but these are beyond the control of this website.

Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. If you’d prefer, you can set yours to refuse cookies. However, in order to change languages on the website, you will need to change your browser preferences and close and reopen your browser.

Advertising

The Ecumenism in Canada / Œcuménisme au Canada website does not carry any paid advertising. Icons, banners, and links are provided free of charge as a service to our viewers. Generally, external links from our site will take the viewer to non-commercial sites. Many of these sites might carry advertising, but we do not endorse any advertising carried on external websites.

No Google Analytics!

This site does not use Google Analytics to collect or track users. In addition, the Google Custom Search and the YouTube embedded videos use the most advanced privacy features currently available with these services.

To block Google Analytics elsewhere, we recommend installing the Google Opt-out Add-on. To provide website visitors the ability to prevent their data from being used by Google Analytics, Google has developed the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on for websites using the supported version of Google Analytics JavaScript (analytics.js, gtag.js). If you want to opt-out, download and install the add-on for your web browser. The Google Analytics opt-out add-on is designed to be compatible with Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Microsoft Edge.

Additional file formats

Certain links on the site will invite you to open a video or audio file embedded within the page, or to download a PDF (Adobe’s portable document format) or MS-Word file. These will normally be marked by an icon indicating the file format.

Spam

Spam is a term used to describe unwanted and unsolicited emails. Spam frequently, but not always, includes commercial offers. This website has instituted a number of methods to hide email addresses from automated email harvesters. We will not tolerate any collection of email addresses from our website for the purpose of spamming. Any IP address noted to have an email harvester-like behaviour will be denied access to our website. Our own email servers filter email for spam. If you suspect that your mail service has been blocked from sending email to us, please contact us by post, telephone, text, or DM to inform us about the problem.
