Search for Executive Director of the Canadian Centre for Ecumenism
The Canadian Centre for Ecumenism invites applications for the full-time position of Executive Director. The mission of this national centre, based in Montreal, is to promote ecumenism and interfaith relations through education, dialogue and spirituality.
The candidate must be a bilingual Christian possessing:
a university level theological formation;
an excellent knowledge of and experience in ecumenism;
a solid background in the administration of a non-profit organization and in particular a demonstrated ability to generate funding.
The position is open to men and women.
His/her style of leadership must be open and collegial with a small staff. The candidate must be able to ensure the production of the Centre’s specialized quarterly magazine.
One of the tasks of the new director will be to actualize the mandate and the role of the Centre in consultation with the Board of Directors and the staff.

The candidate shall in particular assume the following responsibilities:
To articulate a vision of ecumenism for the 21st Century and to provide leadership.
To elaborate a plan of action for the interfaith activities of the Centre.
To promote education about ecumenism and interfaith relations on local, regional and national levels through workshops, conferences and media presentations.
To foster ecumenical and interfaith spirituality through the promotion of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, ecumenical retreats, multifaith prayer services and other activities of this type.
To promote the visibility of the Centre locally, nationally and internationally.
To manage the Centre in accordance with its mission: i.e. coordinating the work of employees and volunteers, promoting a harmonious and cooperative team spirit, overseeing the financial management of the Centre.
The salary is negotiable within the financial capacities of the Centre.
The new director will begin his/her mandate on August 1st, 2013.
